Does he feign madness and use it as a guise? Or does he place himself so dangerously close to the line amongst sanity and insanity that he crosses it without even realizing it? Or is he so intelligent, cunning and in control that this is merely the play out of his completely conceived and well-executed plan of attack?

I believe Hamlet is a tragic gun because his irresolution becomes his fatal flaw and it eventually brings him to his downfall. Yes, he did face indecisive, but unlike some literary fighters, Hamlet reflects much realistically human condition. When we are in the midst of overcome circumstances, like death, or other major life events, it is in truth hard to keep perspective and always make prudent decisions. I see Hamlet as a gun for hire because he did what he thought was best, even as he was caught up in events that were much larger than him.

In my thought Prince Hamlet fits a better quality of a hero rather than a depressed, disillusioned madman who has lost his sanity. Hamlet is a character who although his actions and emotions may be one of an insane person he is actually knowledgeable; In the outset of the book it is clear that Hamlet decides to fake madness in order for his plan to succeed in killing Claudius. Hamlet is sane because throughout the play he only acts softheaded in front of certain people, to others he acts befittingly and displays proper prince-like behavior.
