Community can be defined as a field within public health that focuses its concerns about a particular geographic ara rather than on related characteristics. Public health is the practice of protecting and improving the physical, mental, and welfare of a community. This practice is done by preventative medicine, education of health issues and assessment and management of communicable diseases. Public health departments are usually concerned about certain areas, such as water supplies, waste disposals, air contamination, and food safety (Mosby, 2009).

Environmental activists have been claiming that the lakes pollution levels were reaching high levels. With this confirmation the concern is directed toward the towns water supply. Neighborhood Lakes were once an attractive community attraction for fishing, the lakes pollution levels could potentially become chancy to the community affecting individuals health and well-being (University of Phoenix, n.d.).
