The creation of the section of Homeland credentials was developed in lieu of mortal terrorist attacks, since then it has taken the lead role in defend the U.S from enemies foreign and domestic. Compiled of many sub agencies, the Department of Homeland Security is unlike any other agency in the world, because of its incomparable ability to engage in protecting National Security on multiple levels.
On September 11, 2001, terrorists hijacked four planes and crashed them into the match towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon in Washington, DC, and a field in Pennsylvania. These attacks caused over two super C deaths, and eleven trillion dollars in ruins. Almost immediately afterwards the terrorist attacks, President George W. Bush announced that he would create an spatial relation of Homeland Security in the White House and select Pennsylvania Governor Tom Ridge as the director and assistant to the President. (Bullock, 2009) The purpose of this office was to oversee and coordinate a comprehensive national strategy to protect the country against terrorism, and suffice to any future attacks.

This act granted the Department of Homeland Security authority to protect the joined States from future attacks, reduce the nations vulnerability to terrorism, and minimizing the damage from potential terrorist attacks and natural disasters. (Bullock, 2009) In order to maintain this confinement the government had to revamp its national security process by realigning current government agencies into a single department whose unproblematic mission is to protect the United States. (Bullock, 2009) Before September 11, 2001, at that place were too many government agencies with separate missions not co siding with each other and that created a lot of confusion.
