Virginia, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, South Carolina, and tabun make up the first thirteen original colonies. Although they were any on the east coast, the climate, agriculture, and social standards varied. The northern, plaza, and southern colonies value things in different ways and that affected the way the colonies were run. In the northern colonies of Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut, and Rhode Island, the soil was its poorest. Education wise, boys were valued more than girls. Since the women were expected to stay at home and clean, they had a shorter education.

Boys went to school for about six years but the girls exclusively went for a couple of years just to learn how to be literate. They also had slaves to help around the house and to plant the crops. The midway colonies (New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware) had it a little bit better than its northern neighbors. The soil was richer and the terrain varied, which benefited them. Across New Jersey and Delaware, it was pretty a great deal flat Atlantic coasts. Throughout New York and Pennsylvania however, it was rocklike and was at a high altitude due to the Appalachian Mountains that ran through them.
