I appreciate your interest in the treat program at trick Tyler alliance College, which offers an
associate of employ science (AAS) degree for students who plan to become registered nurses. Upon
completion of the nursing program, you will be eligible to take the National compact for Nursing
Licensing Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN).
Because the nation and the Commonwealth of Virginia are experiencing nursing shortages, there are
many employment opportunities for nurses in the community. As a result, applications for nursing
programs, such as John Tylers, have increased tremendously. Due to the popularity of our program,
registration in our nursing program is limited, and admission is competitive.
John Tyler Community Colleges nursing program is fully accredited by the National League for
Nursing Accrediting Commission and approved by the Virginia Board of Nursing. The program is
committed to high standards, which are reflected in its admission and progression standards and in its
outstanding community reputation. John Tyler Community Colleges nursing graduates are highly

Once accepted into the program, which is five semesters in length, the AAS in nursing requires
intensive study. The program uses Blackboard extensively, so it is insistent that you have your own
computer or consistent access to a reliable computer. Both the JTCC Chester and Midlothian campus
libraries (www.jtcc.edu/library) have computers for student use with open-hearted availability. The
nursing curriculum is demanding and requires outside time commitments to complete course lend
requirements. We construe that many students must continue to work as they look to to advance
themselves academically, but please realize that it is very difficult to work full time while enrolled in
