The rapid population growth is an issue directly related to the worlds ability to feed the population by 2030. By July 2011, it has been estimated that the world will be home to 6,928,198,253 people and by the end of 2011 the population will reach seven billion (National Geographic, 2011). In the past adapting to an adjoin population has been feasible but for the future the world will incur many difficulties.
Firstly, when comparing population trends of the past to the future, in that respect are significant differences. In the past, the population has grown at a much slower pace in bank line to the future projected growth.
The population reached one billion in the year 1804, deuce-ace billion in 1959, 6 billion in 1991 and is expected to reach nine billion by 2050 (Worldometers, 2001). It took 150 years for the population to increase from one to three billion whereas it only 50 years for the population to increase from six to nine billion. Currently, the population is growing at a much more rapid and unmanageable pace.
Population growth is an issue which is impacting everyone around the world.
