The movie American fantasy is a clear depiction of a man at the crossroads of his
life. First he realizes that he is ab erupt to lack is job of fourteen years. His marriage
has become somewhat loveless. His daughter has no respect for him and he feels very
alone. Despite his mundane existence he continues to provide all the trappings of the
American dream to his family. From the removed looking in we might even

with child(p) jobs, money, success, beautiful child. Yet the director allows us have a closer
look at what the truth behind the appearances really are.

event at school to crack his daughters cheerleading. When he spots Angela among the
group of cheerleaders his world, his existence falls away. He sees witness and
becomes entranced with her and obsessed with having her. This is the beginning of
Lesters transformation. After sense of hearing Angela say if he was more in shape she might
have sex with him he is on a mission to interchange himself.
Although the catalyst for his
physical and emotional change was Angela, his inner craving to get back to a time when
he was elated is the real underlying reason for his change. He works out and starts to
have fun like he did in his young he laughs and starts to enjoy things again. We see him
reconnect to what is really important to him. His relationships and visual perception the beauty in
life. Feeling passion again. Instead of the never-ending nerd of obtaining material
possessions. He begins to examine that the pursuit of happiness may not be the pursuit
of more.
The director is poking holes in the American dream. Lesters life is out of control or
